In this episode of We Love Dresses

Hey guys, it's been a busy week here at We Love Dresses .

Thursday, August 8th was International Cat Day. We celebrated by making a small mural with the workshop participants' cats, plus some of us brought cat-inspired clothing! (Mine, for example, was covered in (of kitten hair). Some took it a little more seriously.

Top Cat and his gang

I'm going to take this opportunity to share with you some stories of cat rescues by members of the workshop.

Our first story takes place on a hot afternoon on Antonio Ortiz Mena Blvd. Andrea, the shop's accountant, was a considerable distance away when she heard a call from outside the shop. She thought she heard a cute kitten. That's when I arrived at the shop to announce that there was a baby kitten crying in the middle of the street that ran out and climbed up one of the trees on the median strip.

The workshop is not only known for making dresses, but also for giving shelter to pets we find. So, Nancy, Nubia and Alex decided to go rescue the kitten. Conveniently, at the moment they decided to do that, a man arrived at the workshop square with a ladder, which they used to climb up the tree.

They rescued the baby kitten and Alex decided to adopt her and name her Maestra Purificacion Mondragon

This year, patron saint Georgina also found a kitten near her home, in the middle of the street, about to be run over. Geo, desperate, asked her husband to help her with the cat or the divorce, and he got out to pick it up and put it in the car. The kitten was in very bad condition, with a hurt paw and lots of eye discharge.

When the kitten arrived at the shop, we gave him water and food, and Monica used tea bags to care for him and remove his eye boogers. Martha told us that she had a neighbor who was looking for some baby kittens that had run away around the same place Georgina found the kitten. It turned out that it was her cat, and she came to pick him up. The owner kept us updated on the progress of the kitten (whom we named Guerrera). Her leg had to be amputated, but Guerrera is now in very good shape and ready to continue fighting.

This last story I will tell you is the story of my kitten Lindura. This happened when I lived in El Paso. I already had my other two kittens: Rosa Guadalupe and Gatina, and I was trying to keep the number of cats and the number of ex-boyfriends at the same level. That was when a friend, who is allergic to cats, asked me to adopt Lindura and told me her sad story. It turns out that some children had found Lindura and her babies, killed her kittens and left Lindura in very bad condition. A vet in Juarez rescued her, but she couldn't adopt her either. Lindura was already in better condition and just needed to find a home. That was when I broke my rule of having the same number of ex-boyfriends and cats and decided to venture to Juarez to pick up Lindura. The moment I held her in my arms, I fell in love and took her home to El Paso. When I was on the bridge, I got really nervous that they were going to take her away from me (she had all her shots, but sometimes customs gets mean). When the customs officer started asking me questions, I didn’t mention that Lindura was in my car and I even told the guard a few jokes to make him relax. Then he said, “Everything’s fine, just if you can go to the X-ray machine for a checkup of your car.” My heart stopped and, scared, I moved my car closer to the X-ray machine. Another guard told me to leave my keys on the windshield and get out. I started to sweat and that’s when I got out of the car with my hands up and yelled, “It’s okay! I have a cat! I’m guilty!” To which the guard replied, “It’s okay, take her down too and stay here.” Who would have thought that honesty was always the answer? Now Lindura has been with me and my other cats for 4 years. He has a rather strong temper, but after his sad story, it's understandable. I also ended up breaking up with my then boyfriend so as not to break my rule.

Below, we will show you more images of the workshop's kitties in honor of their day, which was on August 8th.

Remember that animals are a small part of our lives but we are theirs, take care of them and always give them lots of love.

Also on August 8th we celebrated the birthday of our dress supervisor, Nancy. And, as she was the second to receive a bouquet of snacks, it seems that it has become a new tradition in the workshop. Nancy did not expect it.

Congratulations Nancy!

In the next episode of We Love Dresses...

Esther (set supervisor) brings out her momager side when one of her pupils decides to model for a photo shoot inspired by Chapell Roan.

New characters will join the cast of We Love Dresses

The birthday of one of the workshop members will be the same day as the international day of "love your feet"

See you next week
